Doaba Dhaba
Doaba Dhaba is a sustainable food packaging system designed for a cloud kitchen in India. Main dishes are packed in handis, clay pots handcrafted by local artisans, closed with a clay lid and a label tied around the neck. Flatbreads such as rotis and naans are wrapped in freshly cut banana leaves tied with jute thread. Both items are then placed in a bag made of recycled paper. The materials are biodegradable and replace single-use plastic. Deliveries are made by electric vehicles to reduce the carbon footprint.
Doaba Dhaba Sustainable Food Packaging by Akkshit Khattar has been recognized as a grand illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Doaba Dhaba Sustainable Food Packaging earned the Bronze A' Design Award in Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design in 2022. The A' Sustainable Products, Projects and Green Design Award is a highly prestigious international design accolade which honors exceptional design of sustainable projects, environment friendly designs, recycled, upcycled, bio-degradable products, Energy-Efficient appliances and more.
